IPP Process
The Individual Performance Plan (IPP) is a compilation of several Performance Plans blended together to make the IPP. The IPP is used to ensure optimal performance planning, integration and use of Performance Services from the New Zealand Academy of Sport, and the funding support from SPARC and Athletics New Zealand.
The Individual Performance Plan Process
1. The Performance Service Coordinator will provide the New Zealand Academy of Sport Performance Planners with the details of the carded athletes and their coaches who will require planning support.
2. A level 2, 3, and 4 carded athlete will be required to submit a draft Performance Sport Plan to the High Performance Department (before 20 April and before 20 September of each year). Failure to submit the draft Performance Sport Plan by (30 of April and 30 September of each year) will result on a hold for all Performance Services and HP funding support. Performance planners and/or national event coaches can assist the coach in writing the sport plan if required.
3. Ten days after the initial draft submission of the Performance Sport Plan, the High Performance Department will endeavour to schedule a meeting (with the coach, athlete, performance planner - and a HP representative) to complete the review and the Performance Sport Plan.
4. Following the Performance Sport Plan review meeting an "Athlete Agreement" with set performance goals and funding allocation will be signed.
5. The approved Performance Sport Plan will be sent to the academy Performance Planner who will schedule a meeting (with the coach, athlete, HP representative) to complete the Performance Services Plan (on ANZ tempalte) which will reflect and support the outcomes of the Performance Sport Plan.
6. Performance planner will send the Performance Services Plan to ANZ for final approval. Once approved, ANZ will notify athlete, coach and performance planner.
7. Performance planner will help to coordinate an athlete's performance services by circulating the Performance Service Plan to identified providers. Goals, competition schedule and gap analysis should be copied into the Service Plan document.
8. All level 1 carded athletes Performance Sport Plans will align with the individual athlete agreements and be managed by the High Performance Director. As well, level 1 carded athletes can use the academy Performance Planners to identify and complete a Performance Services Plan.
9. Process should be completed by the end of May/October each year for all athletes (active review cycle every six months).
10. Newly carded athletes who enter the programme mid-year (between the official yearly 6 month review periods) will be required to deliver a draft Performance Sport Plan to the High Performance Department within 14 days from their initial carding date. Performance planner may meet iwth athlete and coach once Sport Plan is approved to develop an initial draft Service Plan.
11. The Performance Service Coordinator will communicate the monthly Performance Service credit spend to athlete/coach, academy Performance Planners, and the High Performance Department.
12. Performance Planners will be required where possible to monitor an athlete's Service Plan regularly and be in touch with their providers and the coach to monitor progress (minimun of monthly communication).
Performance Case Management
IPP case management meetings may be carried out throughout the year independently from the yearly scheduled reviews. The High Performance Director and/or the Rio 2016 Performance Project Manager will be the key driver of this process. The purpose of the individual case management meetings is to review the athlete’s progression towards achieving specific performance outcomes.
The academy Performance Planners will be required to monitor an athletes IPP regularly, and in doing so, communicate any requested changes to the athlete Performance Service support needs (as appropriate) with the High Performance Director, the Rio 2016 Performance Project Manager, and/or the Performance Service Coordinator.
